Maite Arribas

PhD Student (IoPPN)

Maite Arribas graduated in 2019 from the University of Cambridge in Biological Natural Sciences. With the hope to focus on the brain basis of human behaviour, she then completed an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience at UCL and worked in the Plasticity Lab (PI: Dr. Tamar Makin), where she analysed fMRI data looking into the plastic changes that occur in the human sensorimotor cortex after amputation. After completing her Masters in 2020, Maite decided that for her PhD, she wanted to help bridge the gap between Neuroscience and Psychiatry by using computational and ‘big-data’ methods. For this reason, she is currently undertaking her PhD in Paolo Fusar-Poli’s lab (EPIC), where she is developing predictive models to detect severe mental disorders (schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression) in the general population using data from electronic health records and machine learning.
